Another two games, another two defeats. The 1st team lost to Dundrum at Wesley College by 95 runs chasing a score of 200 while the 3rds could only make 65 against Civil Service in the Phoenix Park which the opponents easily chased down for the loss of only 1 wicket.

Each team has one game left each to try and halt this succession of losses.

Another game, another loss. The 3rds were the losing team this time against Dundrum in Wesley College. Batting first Sandyford only made 89 ao in 34 overs (Santhosh being last man out for 21 having batted for 30 overs) and despite losing 6 wickets,  Leonard Bolster and debutant Amamdeep doing the damage, the opposition won with 16 overs to spare.

The club's run of poor results continued on Sunday in Strawberry Land when the 2nds lost to Wexford. Making only 84, Sandyford claimed 5 wickets (Yaqoob taking 3 of them) in their opponent's reply before Wexford easily made the target.

Plenty of strawberries but few runs

Lots of strawberries but few points for the 2nds during their visit to the sunny southeast.

Khalid Chaudhary, the Leinster batsman who verbally abused a Sandyford umpire during the game against the club's 2nds on July 24, had been found guilty by the LCU of a Level 2 offence and handed a two weekend playing ban. He has also written a personal letter of apology to the umpire and Leinster have also apologised for his action.

Disappointment for both Sandyford teams on Saturday.  The seconds lost by 9 wickets to Wicklow County. Despite making 165, assisted by a 90 run partnership between Prem and Steve Langton, the opposition coasted home losing only 1 wicket along the way, and that a run out!

It was all set fair for the 3rds at Railway Union who only had 8 players. Sandyford made 170 ao in the 40th over with Darren O'Brien top scoring with 35. By drinks in the 21st over Railway were 79-3(6) but by the 28th over they were 159-03 and comfortably made the total despite a late scare in losing both players who had made 50s. The game was also notable for a first ball 6 by Paddy Griffin followed by a third ball 6.

The weekend continued on a low with the 1st losing their top of the table clash with Dundrum.  Setting Dundrum 231 to win (Yaqoob 75), their opponents made it with 2 wickets and 2 overs to spare, including a century by one of their players.

Sunday sees Sandyford's 1st team take on Dundrum at Marlay Park in what could be the championship decider. Captain Martin Potts says "This is the big one boys, if we have any hope of winning the league we MUST beat these guys".  Hopefully as many members as possible will turn up to support the team. Neutral umpires will be in attendance. Good luck to Pottsie's men.

Meanwhile the 2nds and 3rds have a double header on Saturday at home to County Wicklow and away to Railway Union respectively.

Martin Potts looking for a win in the vital game against Dundrum.
