The rain intervened on Saturday with the result that the 2nds game against Civil Service 3rds was cancelled.
No luck for the 1st team against YMCA 4ths on Sunday. In a game reduced to 30 overs, Sandyford made 162 which YMCA chased down in the 30th over for the loss of 5 wickets, a third wicket stand of 113 being the match winner.
Weekend August 13/14th
On Saturday, the 1st travelled to Carlow to take on Bagenalstown 1. Sandyford made 248 (Shyam Bharti 75) but the Baggies won by 4 wickets with B. O'Mara making 119*. Derek McCormack ended up with 3 stitches on the inside of his mouth when hit by the ball but he is fine.
Wesley College was the home venue on Sunday when the 2nds took on Malahide 5. Thanks to hard hitting by Qasir Chohan (73) and Shyam Bharti (76*), Sandyford made an impressive 292-09, two runs short of the highest ever total by the 2nds, which Malahide failed to chase down, ending their innings on 198-06.
Much of the 2nds game was spent looking for the ball in the bushes where it had been deposited by Qasir, Happy and Shyam. Here the Marlay Fox tries to sniff out a missing ball.
