JUNE 27/28
Sandyford 1sts travelled to Laois and lost narrowly. Setting Laois 219 to win after 73 from Chris Oosthuizen, Laois clambered over the line to win by one wicket despite 3 wickets apieced from Ian Shaw and Kiran Lingala. The 3rds were set 210 to win in the first round of the Junior Cup in Marlay Park, despite the loss of 3 early wickets an 86 run partnership between Shafique Rehman and Ben Sissini swung the game back in favour of home team. Shafique finishing unbeaten for a magnificent 74. In the Minor Cup visitors Pembroke were easily beaten being bowled out for 81 chasing Sandyfords total of 179, man of the match Somon Heaney scoring 78.

JUNE 20/21
Early cup exits for the 1st and 2nd teams at the weekend, losing away to North Kildare and The Hills respectively. The 1st team, who were the holders of the cup, lost by 63 runs despite 47* by Ben Sissini. A depleted 2nd team lost by 5 wickets to The Hills but better luck for the 3rds and 4ths in their league games, led on both days by Captain Fantastic, Stephen Langton. On Saturday, the 3rds with only eight players, beat North Kildare by 2 runs, with Simon Heaney top scoring with 52. What a close finish but Stephen went even closer on Sunday when his 4ths team beat Merrion by 1 run with Michael Greaves, who had scored 43 the day before, hitting 87. Incredible stuff in the batsman's paradise known as Marlay Park.
Michael Greaves had a great weekend with bat and ball !
JUNE 13/14
Lots of runs over the weekend for Sandyford players with Karol Smyth scoring 93 as he recorded his first win as Thirds' captain in a 6th wicket win over Civil Service. Stephen Langton's maiden 50 for the club was not enough to secure a win for the 4ths who lost by 4 wickets away to Civil Service while Santhosh George top scored for the 2nds in Marlay with 71 and aided by 59 from Chris Oosthuizen, Pottsie's 2nds beat Phoenix by 13 runs in a high scoring game.
Karol Smyth, 3rd team captain top scored over the weekend with 93 against Civil Service.
JUNE BANK HOLIDAY
There is a God after all who doesn’t dislike cricket being played in Ireland as the shone beat down on the cricket playing fields of Dublin over the June Bank Holiday weekend. The First team made the most of the opportunity by recording a club record high of 296 in beating Malahide by 174 runs with Hari top scoring on 83. The 2nds had mixed fortune losing to a strong Knockharley side by 6 wickets but bounced back by beating Clontarf by an impressive 140 runs with Praveen taking 5-13. No such luck for the 3rds with debutant skipper, Karol Smyth, seeing his side, albeit with 3 debutants, lose by 7 wickets to North Kildare in the distant fields of Kilcock. The 4ths rounded off the weekend by having a comfortable victory over Merrion at Bird Avenue with Steve Langton returning figures of 5-14 and Naveed Javed just falling short of a 50 on 48.
Stephen Langton, 4th team captain, recorded figures of 5-14 against Merrion on Monday.
23/24TH MAY
A beautiful sunny weekend but no cricket ! Due to the renovation of the mat all home games were moved to Wesley College. Unfortunatly Wesley declared the ground unplayable so that forced the cancellation of the 1st team game against Leinster who were delighted as it allowed them to see the rugby match. Halverstown was also under water and due to North Kildare 4ths pulling out it meant no cricket at all on Saturday. On Sunday the 4ths were down to play North County but that also suffered due to Wesley being unplayable.
Heres hoping the sun stays for the week !
16/17TH MAY
Rain was the winner at the weekend with all games being washed out. The Taveners, however, managed to get a game in between the showers on Friday evening and under the watchful eye of Santhosh ran out winners in their first game of the season.
9/10TH MAY
The sun shone from the heavens but not alas on Saturday morning where early rain and wet weather the day before caused the 2nds game against Leinster in Marlay to be called off. Better luck for the 4ths who arrived in Marlay on Sunday to be greeted by sunshine, a cut outfield and footballers changing in the container. They were rewarded with a 29 run with over Civil Service with man of the match Simon Heaney scoring a vital 26, including two sixes. The 3rds had an impressive 87 run over Avondale with Chris Oosthuizen tantalisingly falling one short of becoming the 9th Sandyford player to score a century.
Chris Oosthuizen scored 99 for the 3rds against Avondale on Sunday
MAY BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND
The long weekend began with Pembroke and Sandyford 3rds deciding they'd prefer to watch a rugby match on Saturday rather than play cricket in the wonderful setting of Marlay Park. The 4ths, however, were made of stronger stuff and travelled to Mount Temple to joust with Clontarf 6ths within hearing distance of Croke Park and were rewarded with a 39 run victory and a first victory for Stephen Langton. The game was also memorable for a 13 ball over by Cliff!
The 2nds would have preferred if the rugby was on Sunday as it was fun I have to say for the YMCA at they sent Pottsie's men packing for 57 and won by 53 runs. However, with no rugby to watch on Monday, the 3rds decided to play cricket and beat a motley dressed Leinster outfit by 5 wickets, with both Liam and the Ben Sissini making 20s apiece.
